Ames (city I live in) has flooded and their is several feet of nasty brown water in our apartment. Also, my lovely car is at the shop, which is flooded. So I am assuming it is toast. So we are stuck with Chris's piece of crap car and a few clothes in a suitcase.
I don't know how long it will be before we can go back to live there. Fortunately we have some friends we are staying with and the animals are ok and I was able to get the girls some clothes from the goodwill. But our suck-ass renters insurance doesnt cover flooding so I'm not sure about what we are going to do about the rest of it.
We just went back to school shopping and packed all the things into my girls' backpacks yesterday. I keep thinking about those school supplies. I can't remember where I put them; if the backpacks are hanging up or not. But then I realized, where will we even be living when school starts next week? How am I going to slove all these problems? One at a time, I guess.
We have alot of support from Chris' church, and I know we will be ok. It just might be hairy for a bit.
Thank you so much Zena (the struggle within) for your kind words. It really means alot that you are thinking of me even with all you are going through.
I have to go but I will post later.

i'm sorry to hear about the flood, and i'm glad everyone is safe. it sounds like you're in good hands with Chris's church and your friends who are taking care of you. i hope there isn't too much damage and that the upheaval settles soon. take care and best of luck.
I'm so sorry!!! Is there any way I can help? Could you message me on FB if I could help by sending money or supplies or something??? I don't have much but I'm willing to help out in any way I can.
Please stay safe and let us know how you are doing!

lisa, oh. so, so sorry. so glad everyone is safe. and yet, this must be devastating.
yes, please let us know if there is somewhere we can send supplies -- food, blankets, anything.

Oh no - floods are so incredibly damaging. I'm glad to hear that the church is lending a hand, and I'll definitely send whatever I can to help out, too.
Your car should be fine. The way that water damages a cars engine is only if it is running, it will get in the oil and kill the engine. So as long as the car was off it will be ok. It will smell and the inside might be torn up but the shops insurance should cover that.
I am glad the animals are ok and everyone is alright. Things can be replaced people are harder to replace.
Oh no, what a pain! Sorry you're having to deal with this, although I'm glad all of your people and pets are ok. I know this kind of thing can be super-stressful, but remember that it WILL end and can be put right again. Hang in there and take care!
I love you sweetie, I saw it and I had to make sure our community knew, Im praying for you sweetie, its going to be insanely difficult but I know your stength and I know you will figure this out. God strengthen and and be with you.

I'll be praying for things to improve for you very very very soon.
Sorry! The children should still be able to attend the school they were going to. I know here it is a law that if you are homeless you are allowed to go to school anywhere. Hang in there and if you need anything let us know!
hugs from abroad! I'll be thinking of you :)
